Who are the Friends of the Commack Public Library?
The Friends are a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the Commack Public Library. We deliver unique and diverse programs to enhance what the Library offers to children and adults. We conduct events for the Library that help raise awareness about the community and the Friends group and in turn we raise funds for the Library.
MISSION
The Friends of the Commack Public Library are a dynamic group of Commack Public Library cardholders who volunteer their time and assist the Library in three basic areas:
- Support
- Fundraising
- Community awareness
- Advocacy
We provide support to the library by being an advocate of the basic foundations of the Commack Public Library.
We provide financial assistance to the library by purchasing items for the library, which are of great benefit but are not purchased from the budget.
The Friends sponsor a number of activities, including the Garage, Bake, Book and Raffle Sale, Kid's Day, Adult Day, April Book Sale, and more.
In addition, throughout the year, the Friends sponsor Library events that help increase community awareness and promote various ideas in support of the Commack Public Library.
MEETINGS
Meetings of the Friends are open to the public and include an agenda of business, and a discussion of projects and activities. Meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., held at the Commack Public Library. We invite you to attend.
